Kerala Congress MLAs and sitting legislators of the United Democratic Front (UDF) PJ Joseph and Mons Joseph quit their posts on March 19. Earlier, PJ Joseph's faction consolidated with PC Thomas-led Kerala Congress to evade likelihoods of fighting elections as independents devoid the coveted "Two Leaves" symbol. Reportedly, both legislators resigned to dodge the applicability of the Anti-defection law on their assembly seats won on Congress (M) tickets in 2016.
