5 Lakh Households Still Deprived Of Toilets In Karnataka
Karnataka government officials have said that about 5 lakh rural households in the state were still not benefitted by the Centre's Swachh Bharat Mission. Acknowledging the issue, the state's Minister K.S. Eshwarappa said most of these houses were abutting each other, making it unworkable to construct toilets in compact spaces. However, the officials added about 50 lakh toilets had been built in Karnataka under the scheme and 20 lakh were under construction.
