7,139 Indians Lodged In Overseas Jails; Most Inmates In Saudi Arabia
The Ministry of External Affairs on February 4 stated that nearly 7,139 Indians are imprisoned globally. Reportedly, Saudi Arabia topped the list with 1,599 Indian prisoners while the UAE (898) and Nepal (886) were next in the line. Besides, 548 and 536 Indians are jailed in Malaysia and Kuwait respectively. However, the ministry said that the total number includes undertrials also and many countries refrain from providing accurate information due to strict privacy laws.
