The Centre on May 28 told the Supreme Court that it had transported 91 lakh migrant workers to their home states since the special train service started on May 1.

The Centre added, "This is an unprecedented crisis and we are taking unprecedented measures." Earlier, the court said there had been "inadequacies" on the part of Central and state governments.
