An Accused Is Innocent Until Proven Guilty, Says Supreme Court

Upholding the Orissa High Court's order, the Supreme Court stated that an accused is presumed to be an innocent until proven guilty. The statement came after Gitanjali Tadu had accused Bannabihari Mohapatra and his son Luja of electrocuting her husband. However, the cause of the death was identified as electric shock, but the post mortem didn't trace any homicidal evidence. The bench was headed by Justices Indira banerjee and hemant Gupta.
