Air Pollution Increases Anaemia Among Children Under 5-Years: Study
A joint study by IIT Delhi and Harvard University has discovered high air pollution is threatening children under the age of 5 years with anaemia. The report highlighted that for every 10 micrograms/m³ of increase in PM2.5 exposure leads to 1.9% increased chances of getting anaemic. Besides, pollution reduces the haemoglobin level by 0.07 grams/decilitre. The study also claimed that air pollution results in low birth weight and child stunting.
