Algerian Wildfire Kills 25 Soldiers, 7 Civilians; Interior Minster Says 'Criminal Act'
Wildfires in Algeria claimed 25 Algerian soldiers' life who were involved in the attempt to douse the fire on August 10, said the Algerian Defence Ministry. Meanwhile, Interior Minister Kamel Beldjoud demanded an investigation saying the fire is a ''criminal act''. Reportedly, the fire erupted across 14 Algerian provinces on August 9 also killed seven civilians, and left dozens injured. However, the government has decided to compensate the victims.
