Anti-Viral Drug Favipiravir Becomes Largest Selling Pharma Brand

The anti-viral drug Favipiravir has become the largest selling pharma brand in the domestic retail market during April 2021. Used for COVID-19 treatment, the Glenmark marketed drug under Fabiflu brand overtook the sales of other lifestyle drugs which have dominated the market. Approved an emergency authorisation by the Centre in June, the early-use antiviral drug’s efficacy was under cloud in India while being widely used in other countries.
