Apparel Brand Jon Cotre Removes Ads Featuring Lord Ganesha On Shorts
After facing fierce criticism, the Brazilian fashion brand Jon Cotre has removed its ads, which featured Lord Ganesha on its unisex shorts. While apologizing, the firm's spokeswoman said, "Our intention was never to 'trivialize' or offend." Cotre took the decision after Suresh Reddy, India's ambassador in Brazil, explained the sensitivities related to the issue to the company's owner. Earlier, the issue surfaced after the ads were criticized by US-based Hindu cleric Rajan Zed.
