Assam Creates Bamboo Foot-Over-Bridge To Boost Local Industry

To reflect the importance of bamboo and its industry in Assam, minister Himanta Biswas Sarma on February 14 inaugurated a foot-over-bridge made of bamboo in Guwahati's Khanapara. Built for convenient public-traverse across road, the unique bridge depicts Assam’s culture and livelihood. Moreover, the Centre is also planning to establish a Bamboo Industrial Park in Assam’s Dima Hasao region to magnify bamboo sector of the Northeast, which overwhelmingly contributes to 60% of the plant's overall supply.
