Bangalore Riots: Congress MLA's Relative Shares Derogatory Post On FB
Bangalore saw a violent night of communal riots on August 11, following a Facebook post that allegedly insulted Prophet Muhammed. The post was uploaded by a Congress MLA, R Akhanda Srinivas Murthy's nephew named P Naveen. He was arrested immediately and interrogated. The now-deleted post allegedly portrayed the Prophet in a bad light, which triggered the Muslim community, leading to a massive outburst on the streets. It is believed that the post which was shared, accused Prophet Muhammad for sexually assaulting a minor, and that Islam permits such acts. However, Naveen upon interrogation claimed that his account had been hacked and pleaded innocent. One of the anchors of the Suvarna news channel, who was covering the recent developments all night, was attacked by goons for filing such stories and was later hospitalized.
