Birju Maharaj Including Other Veteran Artists Asked To Vacate Government Accommodations

Kathak legend Birju Maharaj and several other artists are facing eviction threats from the government allotted accommodations at Asiad Village. Cultural Minister Prahlad Patel stated that no one above the age of 60 or with two-three year terms is permitted to stay and also the government needs the houses for new artists. However, the Cabinet Committee on Accommodation (CCA) has decided not to penalize if the artists vacate before the deadline, added Patel.
