Bolivia: Interim president Jeanine Anez Withdraws Her Candidature
Jeanine Anez, Bolivian conservative interim president, withdrew her candidature from general elections due in October. Anez said her decision was aimed at preventing former President Morales (Socialist party) from benefitting due to vote split among opponents. Reportedly, her predecessor Morales resigned witnessing huge protest just after the 2019 elections. In recent opinion polls, Socialist candidate Luis Arce is leading, followed by former President Carlos Mesa. Anez slipped to fourth place.
