
BritainÔÇÖs budget deficit swelled, taking debt as percentage of GDP above 100%
The Office for National Statistics on June 19 reported a $69 billion deficit growth last month, for the first time since the end of the fiscal year 1963. The increase reflects costs of Chancellor Rishi Sink's unprecedented intervention to boost the economy, and the deficit is likely to rise further this year. April-MayÔÇÖs number was recorded the highest figures, revised down to 48.5 billion.
