BSNL Might Face Manpower Deficit; Lays Off 20,000 Contract Employees
According to a statement by the BSNL Employees' Union, the units have been directed to reduce costs on contracts and this could lead to the eviction of over 20,000 employees. The Union stated that 30,000 contract employees had already been removed. Earlier, through the VRS-2019 plan, 79,000 employees had retired and the union claims that the removal of the contract employees could worsen the situation and lead to a manpower deficit.
