Canada Gets First Minority SC Judge; PM Breaks 146-Years Taboo
Justice Mahmud Jamal, the first official SC's Judge who belongs to a minority background in the history of Canada. However, Jamal was appointed on June 15 by the PM Justin Trudeau. Earlier, the PM had said, "We know people are facing systemic discrimination, unconscious bias and anti-black racism every single day," Besides, the 54-year-old has served as a judge at Ontario's Court of Appeal since 2019.
