Cases Registered Under Domestic Violence Act Drop By 4.5%: NCRB
The National Crime Records Bureau data has revealed that cases registered under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005 declined in 2019. While the year 2018 recorded 579 cases, 2019 figures dipped by 4.5% to 553 cases. However, the cases registered in matters of 'cruelty by husband or his relatives' hiked by 21.3% for the same period. Meanwhile, an NGO named ‘Jagori’ revealed that several domestic violence cases have remained unreported.
