CBSE Cancels Class 10 Exams, Deems Class 12 Exams Optional

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced on June 25 that the board exams for Class 10th and 12th, earlier scheduled to be held from July 1 to 15, have been cancelled. Class 12 students will have two options, either to appear for the pending papers in the next session or to be assessed based on their previous examsÔÇÖ score. The results will be announced by July 15.

Students were divided in their opinion. Shashwat Verma from Deoria, Uttar Pradesh, says, ÔÇ£Exams should have been cancelled way back. There is no safe way to conduct them. Nobody can do anything in this situation.ÔÇØ Mumbai resident, Akash Jain, who was going to appear for his higher secondary examinations says, ÔÇ£It is definitely a relief since maintaining social distancing norms while writing exams would not have been easy. And I wouldn't want to be graded on my previous exams."

While some students are rejoicing, others feel the decision might lead to unfair results. Nilesh Singh, from Gorakhpur who already appeared for exams in February. ÔÇ£I feel this is a little unfair since many have already given their exams. But, conducting them now would be too risky,ÔÇØ he said.
