Centre To Launch Public Wi-Fi Service PM-WANI Across Country

To improve data connectivity across the country by offering public Wi-Fi service, the cabinet has assented for PM-Wi-fi Access Network Interface aka PM-WANI on December 9. IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said, "There will be no licence, fee or registration for it." It has also permitted businesses to avail services from private Internet Service Providers. Moreover, the cabinet has planned to open one crore public data centres across the country.
