Centre Launches 1st Batch Of DRDO's Anti-COVID Oral Drug '2-DG'
Union ministers Rajnath Singh and Dr Harsh Vardhan on May 17 launched the first batch of anti-COVID drug 2-deoxy-D-glucose (2-DG). Jointly developed by DRDO, Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences and Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, 2-DG is effective in moderate to severely affected COVID-19 patients. Moreover, the drug reduces the dependence on medical-grade oxygen of COVID patients. Minister Rajnath termed the drug as first indigenous research-based outcome against Covid-19.
