Centre refuses to answer RTI plea on money spent on COVID-19 equipment

A Mumbai-based RTI activist filed an online application seeking to know the amount spent by the central government on equipment and material purchased for fighting COVID-19. Union Health Ministry, however, has refused to divulge the amount, stating that "the information sought does not come under the definition of information (as per) RTI Act, 2005", reported PTI.
