Chattisgarh Opposes Centre's Plan To Procure Elephant Reserve Land
Chhattisgarh government has opposed the Centre's proposal to procure 712 hectares of land in Madanpur South's Hasdeo forest region for coal mining. The opposition primarily emerged since the Centre's bid has been made under the Coal Bearing Areas (Acquisition and Development) Act. Due to this, the state government's Lemru Elephant Corridor project is under threat. Reportedly, the Chhatisgarh government intends to correspond with the Union coal ministry for a solution.
