China Launches Haiyang-2D Oceanography Satellite To Monitor Oceans

China launched Haiyang-2D (HY-2D), new ocean observation satellite, through the Long March-4B rocket on May 19 from its Jiuquan Launch Centre. Forming a constellation with HY-2B, HY-2C and HY-2D China will create a system for an all-weather round-the-clock reporting to monitor ocean environment and help in climate change findings. While the satellite is developed by China Academy of Space Technology, the rocket is created by Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology.
