China Makes Territorial Claim On Eastern Bhutan

China made territorial claims on Sakteng Sanctuary in Eastern Bhutan’s Trashigang District at the 58th Global Environment Facility (GEF) Council meeting held between July 2-3. IAS officer Aparna Subramani, the Council member for Bhutan expressed the country’s views saying, “Bhutan totally rejects the claim made by China. Sakteng Wildlife Sanctuary is an integral and sovereign territory of Bhutan and does not classify as a disputed area”.
