Chris Gayle Fined 10% Of Match Fee For Slinging Bat After Getting Out At 99

In an important game against Rajasthan Royals, Kings XI Punjab's Jamaican southpaw Chris Gayle got fined 10% of the match fee for a Level 1 breach of 'IPL Code of Conduct'. When he was on 99, the fourth ball of twentieth over bowled by Jofra Archer shattered his timbers with a toe-cracking yorker. Disgruntled with the way and timing of getting out, the 'Universe Boss' tried to hit the ground hard with his bat, but it slipped off his hand and flew towards mid-wicket. Although it didn’t hurt any one, Gayle was slapped with the code of conduct breach. Interestingly, Gayle became the only player in IPL to get out on 99 twice. His last such unlucky knock came in 2019 against Bangalore. In another feat, he also became the only batsman to hit 1000 sixes in T20 cricket. While the next in line is Kieron Pollard who trails much behind him at 690 sixes.
