Class 10 Girls Devise Self-Sanitising Bench 'SAFE' For Outdoors

Four girls of tenth standard from Shiv Nadar School, Faridabad have devised a self-sanitising bench – ‘SAFE’ – that counters transmission of diseases like COVID-19, viral conjunctivitis, influenza and hepatitis A. The bench's ultrasonic sensors gets activated once a user gets off and initiates an automatic UV light-propelled sanitisation process. Besides, a QR code yields the precise date-time of the last sterilisation. The novel innovation aims to improve sanitisation and safety in outdoor spaces.
