Congress Suspends Mekedatu Padayatra Amid COVID-19 Surge: Karnataka

Amid the rising COVID-19 cases, Congress unit in Karnataka, postponed their "Mekedatu Padayatra". On January 13, former Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah said, "Karnataka Congress has decided to suspend Mekedatu Padayatra with immediate effect in view of the prevailing COVID-19 situation". He further said, once the situation gets better, the Congress will again begin the padayatra from Ramanagar for seven days. Earlier, Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai urged opposition leaders to halt yatra.
