Congress Sweeps Punjab Local Body Polls; Wins 6 Of 7 Corporations
Sweeping the Punjab Municipal Corporation elections, Congress has won six of seven corporations in the state. Interestingly, the Shiromani Akali Dal, BJP and Aam Admi Party failed to establish its foot in the civic polls that clocked 70% turnout. While the Congress won Bathinda, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Abohar, Batala, and Pathankot corporations, the result of the seventh corporation was deferred. Reacting to the swing, Punjab Congress’ chief claimed that people rejected ‘negative politics.’
