COVID Blues: Malaysian Open Postponed; Setback For Indian Shuttlers

The Malaysian Open Super 750 tournament scheduled from May 25-30 has been postponed due to COVID-19 surge. The $600,000 prize money tournament was to be held at Kuala Lumpur. Touted as 2021 Tokyo Olympic qualifier, the postponement hit the last hopes of India shuttlers Saina Nehwal and Kidambi Srikanth. After cancellation of Indian Open, the players relied much on this tournament as pandemic-led flight restricted their travel for Singapore Open
