COVID Scare Forces Goa To Impose Section 144 Ahead Of Festivals
The Goa government, witnessing a surge in fresh COVID-19 cases, has imposed section 144 ahead of the festive seasons of Holi, Shab-e-Barat, Eid-ul-Fitr and Easter. Prohibiting public celebrations and gathering for the festivities, the North Goa magistrate order read that people found flouting rules will be punished under Section 188 of the IPC. Earlier, the state government had also cancelled its spring onset celebration, Shigmo festival parade.
