Daniil Medvedev Beats Alexander Zverev To Clinch Maiden Paris Masters Title

The night of November 8 had been in favor of Russia's Daniil Medvedev as he defeated Germany' Alexander Zverev to win his maiden Paris Masters title. He clinched the victory with 5-7, 6-4, 6-1 in a near-empty Accor Arena. The 24-year-old Russian rallied behind an astonishing comeback to win the first trophy of the season and eighth of his career after losing the first set of the match. In the first set of the 2-hour 8-minute match, a tiebreak was expected as none of the players had created breakpoints, but Zverev managed to convert his third opportunity, breaking into the 12th game for a first set. Medvedev won the latter set with 13 aces, taking advantage of the German's errors. Medvedev successfully pushed the exhausted Zverev to succumb under tremendous pressure and a double-fault sealed the victory for the Russian. He received 1000 FedEx ATP Ranking points and earned € 225,210 in prize money.
