Drink Alcohol In Private Places: Gujarat HC Reserves Order

Gujarat HC reserved its order on August 23 challenging the constitutional validity of the Gujarat Prohibition Act,1949 on the grounds of the right to privacy to drink alcohol at home. Advocate General Kamal Trivedi uplifted preliminary objections to the challenge. Senior Advocate Mihir Joshi said that restrictions imposed by the legislature on the right of citizens to consume alcohol were not been disputed given Directive Principles of State Policy.
