Drop In CO2 Emissions During Pandemic Likely To Rebound: IEA
International Energy Agency predicted a 7% decline in global energy-related carbon dioxide emissions in 2020. Citing COVID-19, the IEA anticipated a drop of 5% in energy demands in 2020, the largest slump in past century. However, it alarmed that carbon emissions may bounce back as there are no significant policy changes by nations towards sustainability. Fatih Birol, IEA executive, believes annual investment in green-energy need to surge from $300bn to $1.6tn by 2030.
