Editors Guild Requested PCI To Withdraw its Advisory; Foreign Content Circulation

The Editors Guild of India on November 28 slammed the Press Council of India's (PCI) advisory, cautioning the unregulated circulation of the "foreign contents (sic)" by the media organisations. The PCI advised media organisations to publish foreign content only after verification, not the unregulated circulation that is “not desired”. The Guild said, "A reiteration by the Council at this juncture of the established practice, in an ominous sounding advisory, has disturbing implications."
