Election Commission Of India To Celebrate National Voters Day on January 25
Commemorating its foundation day, the Election Commission of India (ECI) will observe the 11th National Voters Day (NVD) on January 25. The theme guiding the 11th NVD, "Making Our Voters Empowered, Vigilant, Safe and Informed", envisions primed voter participation and elucidates ECI’s unwavering dedication towards ensuring safe elections vis-a-vis the COVID-19 pandemic. The national function arranged at the Ashok Hotel, New Delhi will behold President Ram Nath Kovind as the Chief Guest. The President shall virtually preside over the event from Rashtrapati Bhawan. On this occasion, President Kovind will bestow the National Awards for the year 2020-21 and will launch ECI’s Web Radio: ‘Hello Voters’. Union IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad will take the chair as the Guest of Honour, and will inaugurate the landmark electronic Electoral Photo Identity Card (e-EPIC) programme and distribute e-EPICs to five new voters. Further, the IT Minister Prasad will also release three ECI-penned publications. The National Voters’ Day has been celebrated since 2011 to amplify voter awareness and participation among the populace, notably the fresh voters.
