With five lakh rides in December 2020, India's largest e-rickshaw operator, ‘Oye! Rickshaw’ surpassed all pre-COVID-19 figures. The affordable metro feeder service company also crossed the milestone of six million overall rides since its launch in 2017. Providing easy and accessible transport options, Oye! Rickshaw in quick time-period became the fastest growing electronic vehicle based company in India. Interestingly, around 35% of all rides of Oye! Rickshaw either start or end at a metro station making it an affordable option to reach metro stations. Additionally, expanding its wings in deliveries sector during COVID-19 times, the company made over 4,00,000 deliveries. Resultantly, the new sector provided a 30% increase in the salary of drivers, helping them to sustain in the pandemic times. Vouching on the market opportunities, the founder Mohit Sharma said, "Our focus is simple, give every Indian a reliable, affordable, and safe commute option.” Founded in 2017, by Alumnus of IIT-Delhi and NIT-Allahabad, Mohit Sharma and Akashdeep Singh, Oye! Rickshaw has become the fastest growing micro-mobility startup, operating in five cities, bagged Series-A funds by Xiaomi, Matrix partners, Chiratae Ventures, and PawanMujnal.
