Explained: Diwali, The Indian Festival Of Lights

Diwali in sanskrit can be translated to a "row of lights". Diwali is observed on the 15th day of the "Kartik month", as it is considered as the holiest month. Diwali or Deepavali, is a Hindu-originated festival celebrated in India and by the Indian diaspora. During the five-day celebration also known as the “festival of lights" diyas (clay lamps) are lit to signify the victory of good over evil.
