Heads of the Adwaita Nagar village of West Bengal's Murshidabad district have issued a fatwa prohibiting activities like watching television, playing carom, listening to music, using cellphones and computers, and more. Penalties for violation, range from fine up to Rs 7000 to doing sit ups. “I welcome the decision to ban carom and songs, using mobile phones, because the youths are getting addicted to it,” said local Trinamool Congress chief, Abdur Rauf.
