First Robot Citizen 'Sophia' To Be Mass Produced For COVID-19 Assistance

Hong Kong-based company Hanson Robotics (HR) will be mass producing its humanoid robots Sophia in 2021, to avail its assistance amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The company is planning to ship thousands of them by mid-2021 globally, however, the official number has not been confirmed. HR founder David said, "The world of COVID-19 is going to need more…automation to keep people safe.” Earlier, in 2017, Sophia became the first robot to receive citizenship of any country.
