Florida Athlete Became World's First To Win Ironman Triathlon Battling Down Syndrome
Floridian Chris Nikic became the first-ever athlete with Down Syndrome to finish an Ironman triathlon. The 21-year-old earned a place in the Guinness Book of World Records after completing a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride, and full marathon in sixteen hours and 46 minutes. Nikic received applauds from social media after being inspired by his determination. He will be taking part in the 2022 Special Olympics in Florida.
