Fraunhofer’s H.266 Codec Cuts 8K Video’s Buffer Time And Data Usage Into Half
The Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute in Germany has released its new video, Codec VVC H.266. The new 8K viewing technology has been developed by Apple, Microsoft, Ericsson, and Intel among others. The Codec makes it possible to store and stream the same quality video for half the storage space and buffer time used with H.265. But, an implementation may take time as it is not adopted in most platforms yet.
