GI-Tagged Bengali Sweet 'Joynagar Moa' Registers 1st Export
In a first, West Bengal has exported its popular sweet ‘Joynagar moa’ to Bahrain. Confined to be sold in state's Joynagar town, the GI-tagged perishable sweet is a popped-rice bind with fresh date-palm jaggery and available only during winter. The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority, which facilitate its export, revealed that ‘moa’ joined the list of only a few GI-tagged agricultural items exported.
