Government Increases Time Limit For Sugar Mills To Export Mandatory Quota
The Centre on September 28 extended the deadline till December for sugar mills to export the least mandatory quantity of sugar this year. Reportedly, the extension has been granted since the mills faced logistics issues during the COVID-19 lockdown. Food Ministry's Joint Secretary Subodh Kumar Singh stated, “Out of 6 million tonnes, 5.7 million tonnes of sugar have been contracted. And about 5.6 million tonnes have been moved from mills.”
