India plans to revise the legal age of marriage for women from 18 to 21. The government has set up a ten-member task force, headed by former Samata Party president Jaya Jaitly, who will submit a report by July 31. Correlation of age for marriage and motherhood, health implications, maternal mortality rate, and other factors will be taken into consideration.
