Govt Extends J&K Delimitation Commission By 1 Year; Polls Delayed
Jammu and Kashmir Government on March 3 extended the delimitation commission’s deadline for submitting the redrawn report of constituencies by one year. Owing to the development, the experts suggest that the state elections might get deferred. Created in 2019 after the abrogation of Article 370, the commission recently has faced a boycott from the National Conference members over less representation. Notably, the J&K Reorganisation Act 2019 realigned the assembly strength from 87 to 107.
