Govt Nods To Conduct Underwater Study To Determine Ram Setu's Origin
The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research and Goa's National Institute of Oceanography have received the Centre’s go-ahead to determine the origin and formation of 'Ram Setu'. The analysis of the 48-km-long limestone bridge will be administered via archaeological antiquities and radiometric and thermoluminescence dating. Moreover, the researchers will also deploy 'Sindhu Sadhna' vessels to collect sediments from the depth of 35-40 metre. Lying near Rameswaram's Pamban Island, 'Ram Setu' holds significance in Hindu mythology.
