Under the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958 (AFSPA), the Governor of Assam on February 24 declared the state as a 'Disturbed area' for another 6 months. Reportedly, the order earlier imposed on August 28, 2020, was extended without mentioning a specific reason by Governor Jagdish Mukhi.
