IIT Roorkee Develops Packaging Paper From Pine Needle Waste

IIT Roorkee researchers have developed ethylene-scavenging functional paper from pine needle waste to build sustainable packaging materials. Professor Kirtiraj K. Gaikwad and Ph.D. research scholar Avinash Kumar from the Department of Paper Technology recommended developing an environmentally friendly packaging alternative. Reportedly, the cellulose present in the pine needle helps in the formation of sustainable packaging material. Gaikwad said that this product will help curb the pollution caused by plastic packaging.
