India Demoted To "Partly Free" Country By Think Tank 'Freedom House'
US-based Freedom House has ranked India at 88 in the list of countries with most freedom, and downgraded India's freedom score from "free" to "partly free". The think tank stated that the curtailment in civil liberties in India has been increasing since 2014. Citing "increased pressure on human rights organizations", "intimidation of academics and journalists" and "bigoted attacks" at Muslims, Freedom House said India's decline deepened after PM Narendra Modi's reelection in 2019.
