India To Fund Maldives' Single-largest Infrastructure Project
The Export-Import Bank of India (EXIM) has decided to fund $400 million to Greater Male Connectivity Project (GMCP) after signing a Line of Credit Agreement with the Maldives on October 12. The GMCP, Maldives' single-largest infrastructure project, is a 6.7 Km long bridge that will connect the country's capital Male with Villingili, Gulhifalhu and Thilafushi islands. Reportedly, the project will use renewable energy sources to make the infrastructure sustainable.
